Anti-aging care: prevention and correction
Today, we live longer with the challenge of aging while preserving our physical and mental well-being. Signs of aging can appear earlier than we’d like, but a proactive approach can make all the difference.
Of course, aging is inevitable, but its pace largely depends on our lifestyle. With tailored skincare practices and preventive measures, it’s possible to maintain radiant skin, a healthy body, and a calm mind well beyond the first wrinkles.
Anti-aging care falls into two categories: prevention and correction. Understanding this distinction is essential for building a skincare routine adapted to the skin’s evolving needs. Discover the difference between these two approaches and our most valuable daily prevention tips.
Distinguishing prevention and treatment of aging signs
1.Prevention
This approach is primarily aimed at young adults and aims to delay the appearance of aging signs. Starting at age 25, it is recommended to protect the skin and strengthen its natural mechanisms to preserve its elasticity, suppleness, and radiance.
How to prepare your skin daily?
Internal and External Hydration:
- Drink enough water: Skin needs hydration to stay supple and healthy. Drink about 1.5 to 2 liters of water per day to avoid dehydration, which accentuates fine lines and can lead to a dull complexion.
- Use a moisturizing cream: Apply a cream suited to your skin type morning and night. Choose products containing hyaluronic acid, an ingredient known for retaining moisture and plumping the skin, preventing the first fine lines.
Daily sun protection:
- Apply an SPF 30 sunscreen minimum: UV rays are responsible for most premature skin aging. Even when the sky is cloudy, UVA rays penetrate through clouds and reach the skin, causing deep damage that contributes to premature aging, loss of elasticity, and the appearance of dark spots. Apply sunscreen on the face, neck, and hands, the areas most frequently exposed to the sun.
Nutrition and antioxidants:
- Consume antioxidant-rich foods: Antioxidants protect the skin from free radicals responsible for cellular aging. Include colorful fruits and vegetables like berries, spinach, carrots, and tomatoes in your daily diet. Nuts, seeds, and oils such as olive or avocado provide beneficial fatty acids to keep skin soft and supple.
- Incorporate omega-3s: Omega-3s strengthen the skin’s lipid barrier, protecting it from dehydration. They can be found in fatty fish (salmon, mackerel), chia seeds, and walnuts.
Sleep and Stress Management:
- Ensure quality sleep: Quality sleep is essential for skin regeneration. Aim for 7 to 8 hours of sleep per night, as sleep deprivation accelerates premature aging. A silk pillowcase can also reduce friction and prevent crease formation.
- Manage stress: Chronic stress produces cortisol, which can damage skin cells and accelerate aging. Take a few minutes each day for breathing exercises, meditation, or a relaxing activity.
Gentle, Adapted Skincare Routine:
- Gently cleanse the skin: Effective yet gentle cleansing is essential to remove impurities without damaging the skin barrier. Our 2 in 1 AHA Glow Cleanser combines the power of lactic acid and glycolic acid to deeply purify the skin while enhancing its texture.
- Incorporate an antioxidant serum: In the morning, apply our Ideal Balance Serum, formulated with boreal blackberry (vitamins A, C, and E) and bakuchiol, powerful antioxidants that work in synergy to protect the skin from free radicals and improve radiance.
2. Treatment
Once the first signs of aging appear, targeted care can be introduced to correct these effects. Products with concentrated active ingredients help smooth wrinkles, firm the skin, and reduce spots.
From age 25, collagen production in the dermis starts to decline, leading to a loss of elasticity. Starting at 30, this process accelerates, and the first signs of aging appear, with skin that can become thinner, less firm, and less radiant. This is when targeted care and a daily routine become essential to preserve the skin.
After age 40, skin cell turnover slows down, and the epidermis loses firmness. More pronounced wrinkles form, and the skin becomes thinner and more sensitive, with more visible dark circles and puffiness.
Beyond age 50, wrinkles multiply and deepen. The skin sags, dries out, and becomes thinner, with a loss of tone.
Our best active ingredients against skin aging
At Ad CAELIA, we have selected the finest active ingredients to slow down skin aging, to name just a few:
Scandinavian antioxidants, such as crowberry, arctic blackberry, and sea buckthorn...
These superfruits are among the most antioxidant-rich natural ingredients in the world.
Northern berries face extreme climatic conditions and have developed intrinsic resilience qualities to withstand the severe cold at these latitudes, explaining their exceptional content of vitamins and minerals (especially vitamins A, C, and E, as well as polyphenols and anthocyanins), allowing them to handle climatic stress.
Rich in these nutrients, Scandinavian berries actively combat free radicals, thereby slowing cellular aging. In synergy with these Nordic antioxidants, we also add bakuchiol, coenzyme Q10, and niacinamide – essential antioxidants in a “beautifully aging” routine.
- Tripeptides (a patented active ingredient), contained in our Ultra Moisturizing Smoothing Cream, act as messengers to stimulate collagen synthesis. Their firming properties make the skin more elastic and smoother.
- Lingostem (lingonberry stem cells), also found in the Ultra Moisturizing Smoothing Cream, is a fantastic firming agent, with a soothing and protective effect on the epidermis.
- Bakuchiol, combined with boreal blackberry in the Ideal Balance Serum, offers an anti-wrinkle effect while helping brighten and even out the skin tone. Together, these actives stimulate cell renewal and contribute to smoother, more radiant skin.
- Rich in vitamin C and antioxidants, boreal blackberry also supports skin regeneration, thereby reducing the appearance of dark spots.
By incorporating these elements into a skincare routine and balanced lifestyle, it’s possible to effectively prevent the signs of aging and maintain radiant skin.
